Police investigating after shots fired on Hamilton Mountain near Limeridge Rd. W.

Hamilton police are investigating a shooting on the Mountain Sunday night.

Police were called for reports of shots fired around 6 p.m. Aug. 16 in the area of Elgar Avenue and Limeridge Road West, said Const. Jerome Stewart.

There are no reported injuries.

Evidence collected at the scene confirms it was a shooting.

Elgar Avenue is a residential street east of Garth Street.

The incident is under investigation by the Mountain criminal investigation branch.

This marks at least the 30th shooting in Hamilton this year. There have been 19 victims shot, including eight people killed. There were 47 shootings in Hamilton in 2019.
