Browns' Chubb enters concussion protocol

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has entered the concussion protocol, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced Tuesday, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.

Chubb, who will remain sidelined until he clears the protocol, underwent evaluation for a concussion after taking a high hit from second-year linebacker Mack Wilson during practice Monday.

Wilson wrote after the practice that his intention is "to never hurt anyone on my team nor any other player."

Stefanski warned players about potential injuries at practice one day before padded activities began.

"We had that conversation (Sunday) night," Stefanski said. "The pace of practice should look exactly the same as it did (Sunday) in shells. They have to understand how to practice hard and take care of each other regardless of the dress or the attire that they are wearing."

Browns tight end David Njoku said "the hit wasn't right and no one condones that behavior."

Chubb, 24, earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2019 after finishing second in the league with 1,494 rushing yards. He also racked up eight scores on the ground.

Selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2018 draft, Chubb has averaged 5.1 yards per carry through his first two pro seasons.
