Report: Bears' Burns suffers torn ACL
Chicago Bears cornerback Artie Burns suffered a torn ACL during practice Tuesday, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Burns signed a one-year deal with the Bears this offseason and had made a good early impression during training camp.
The 25-year-old started Chicago's padded activities Monday practicing with the team's first unit opposite No. 1 corner Kyle Fuller.
Selected in the first round of the 2016 draft, Burns played his first four NFL campaigns with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Miami product had a career year as a rookie with three interceptions, 13 pass breakups, and 65 tackles, but has failed to replicate that production since. In 10 appearances last season, he played just 6% of the Steelers' defensive snaps.
The Bears drafted cornerback Jaylon Johnson in the second round last April. Chicago's depth chart also features veteran corner Kevin Toliver, who's been with the team since 2018.
