Pulseeffects on Linux Mint 20

Hello all, have installed Linux Mint 20 lately and seem to have a problem with pulseeffects! Had run pulseeffects successfully on previous versions of Mint without problems, installed from the additional .ppa of mikhailnov. Now in Mint 20 pulseeffects is included in the repository. After installing and running some audio applications (clementine, audacious or others) the pulseeffects features run ok (like bass enhancer etc) except for the equalizer. Trying to enable the equalizer does not work, the slide-switch you have to click and slide with your mouse to enable it is greyed out and not functional. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is there? Thanks in advance!
