vim: paste clipboard memory "*p into current buffer in INSERT MODE.

i am using vim.

how to paste clipboard memory in "insert mode"

i found it to have to "esc" out to normal mode just to do a paste is ridiculous.. there have to be a way to paste clipboard memory in Insert mode.
