Bodhi not booting from Asus PC 1000 HE netbook

Hi,
I am new to the forum. This is my first post. I have Lubuntu installed on an Asus PC 1000 HE netbook with 2GB of ram and looking for something faster. I have downloaded the Bodhi legacy ISO to a 16 GB USB memory stick and have tried several times to boot from it.
The first few times, the boot would begin with a circle spinning around the Bodhi icon in the center of the screen. Then the spinning stopped but the boot never finished.
I re-downloaded the ISO and authenticated the checksum. I cleared and reformatted the USB stick and reinstalled the distribution using the linux dd command. Now it doesn't even begin the boot.
I'll appreciate any ideas. Many thanks.
