seeking desktop "intercom" app for Linux to/from Win-10
by SaintDanBert from LinuxQuestions.org on (#576G7)
Can someone suggest a light weight application or utility that will enable
voice chat -- desktop to desktop -- between Linux workstations
and Windows-10 workstation on the same home office network?
I'm most interested in something that could be kept open and accessed
on-demand without much thought or effort.
We know that there are numerous chat-apps but they use remote servers.
We would really like a free standing app that will connect point-to-point on our LAN. The ability to connect any one of several desktops would be really nice. We don't need any sort of meeting or group interaction.
We have a LAN in our house... DOH.
My wife and I both work from home. She has her office room using Win10.
I have my office room using Linux Mint. They are far apart in the house.
In addition, her printer has one set of useful features. Mine has other features. Both are on the LAN, but we routinely need to ask for a status
check for confirmation of printer actions, paper feeding, etc.
Thanks in advance,
