The Arizona Cardinals are signing Budda Baker to a four-year, $59-million contract extension, making him the highest-paid safety in NFL history, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Baker's agent, David Mulugheta, confirmed the deal to Schefter.

The deal reportedly includes $33.1 million in guaranteed money, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Baker will earn $14.75 million in average annual salary, surpassing Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson ($14.6 million) as the highest-paid current player at the position, according to Spotrac.

The 24-year-old Baker is coming off his best NFL campaign. He made his first Pro Bowl as a defensive back after recording 147 tackles, six pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 2019, and he led the league in solo tackles (104).

In his rookie season, the 2017 second-round pick also earned a Pro Bowl berth and first-team All-Pro nod as a special-teamer.
