Man arrested in Oakville after suspects break into storage facility twice in two days

Halton police have made one arrest but are still looking for two suspects following repeated break-ins to an Oakville self-storage facility.

On Aug. 23 at approximately 4 a.m., a man and a woman approached the Apple Self Storage facility at 700 Third Line.

Police said the individuals were able to enter the property after somehow defeating the card reader at the door.

They then cut or smashed the locks off multiple storage units and stole numerous tools and some electrical wiring.

On Tuesday police allege the same man returned, this time with a male accomplice, and again broke into the storage facility after defeating the card reader at the door.

The suspects forced open 35 storage units and removed tools, electronics, computers, sporting goods, glassware and other items.

Security for the storage facility became aware of the break-in and contacted police.

Officers arrived on the scene just as the intruders were moving the stolen items to a loading area.

The two men fled the property and hid nearby.

Several hours later the suspects were located.

Police made one arrest however, the accomplice was able to escape.

A 30-year-old Scarborough man has been charged with two counts of breaking and entering to commit theft and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police are still looking for the two other suspects involved in these break-ins.

The woman from the Aug. 23 break-in is described as five-foot-seven with brown skin, shoulder-length hair and a medium build.

She wore black pants with a black sweater.

The man from the Aug. 25 incident is described as white with blond hair.

He had a cast on one hand.
