NBC Peacock & Linux incompatible?

Hello,
I wasn't able to find an existing thread on this topic.
I can't stream Peacock on laptops running Linux (ubuntu and MX).
With Chrome browser I get the error "Something went wrong.
Sorry, there was a playback error. Please try again. (2003)"
In contrast a W10 unit via HDMI to a flat-screen, stream is not a problem.
On the laptop running MX I also tried Firefox to see if it might be a DRM issue. Nope, stream appears to open ok but video won't play.
Surely this is not an isolated issue. What is the soluton?
