The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are waiving kicker Matt Gay one year after using a fifth-round draft choice on him, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

The move comes two days after the Buccaneers officially signed veteran Ryan Succop, who went 1-for-6 on field goals last year before being cut by the Tennessee Titans. Succop was one of the more consistent placekickers in the NFL in previous seasons.

Gay, a two-time All-Pac-12 selection and former Lou Groza Award winner in college, went a pedestrian 27-for-35 on field goals as a rookie. The Utah product was expected to stop the revolving door of kickers in Tampa.

The Buccaneers also cut running back Dare Ogunbowale to help alleviate their logjam in the backfield following the addition of Leonard Fournette, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Ogunbowale spent two seasons with the Buccaneers and was special teams captain.
