Why are my build times so slow ?

How can I determine why my build times are so long? I have a Dell Optiplex 7010 Intel i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz 4core 4 threads with 16GB RAM and 480GB SSD. I have 6 hour build time for Lineage OS 17.1 and 15 minutes for twrp. I'm using ccache, -j4 and have set swappiness=10. Currently using Ubuntu Mate 20.04 with Cinnamon DE. I know I don't have an awesome processor but it should not be this slow should it ?
