VNC Server is running but nowhere to be found in Linux Debian 8

Hi all !!
i have a robot running here on the company, it has a HMI with a display and runs on debian 8.0 . We can view whats going on from another pc in the same network with a VNC vieuwer. It connects just with the IP address, so i assume the server is running on port 5900.
Now i would have liked change some settings on the VNC server so i can fully take over the screen on my pc, right now mouse and keyboard input is blocked so we can just view.
I was able to login in with Putty , and also with WinSCP. i have been searching everywhere but no vnc server software is found ! Checked all the folder, running services etc etc. but nothing there.
Drives me nuts, i would expect something like TightVNC or simular would be running. Is there a way to check or to find what software is running ?
Would be very gratfull !
thanks,
Bart
