Incident in Dusseldorf could be first death caused by a cyber-attack, says UK's former head of cybersecurity

German prosecutors have opened a homicide investigation into the case of a patient who died after a hospital in the city of Dusseldorf was unable to admit her because its systems had been knocked out by a cyber-attack.

The female patient, suffering from a life-threatening illness, had to be turned away on the night of 11 September by the city's university hospital and died after the ambulance carrying her was diverted to Wuppertal, 30 km (20 miles) away.
