USER_IN_WHITELIST DEPRECATED: See USER_IN_WELCOMELIST

I've been using SpamAssassin for many years and have a whole list of addresses configured in local.cf as whitelist_from. I just now noticed in the X-Spam-Report section of my email:
USER_IN_WHITELIST DEPRECATED: See USER_IN_WELCOMELIST
Really? is whitelist_from deprecated? What is the replacement directive? How long has this been deprecated? Can someone shed some light on this?
