The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with more than a few roster issues at the moment, but a quarterback controversy isn't one of them.

San Francisco didn't miss a beat with signal-caller Nick Mullens starting in place of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 3.

Mullens threw for over 300 yards as his team cruised to victory. However, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said there shouldn't be any question over who the starter is once Garoppolo returns.

"No. That scenario doesn't exist," Shanahan said when asked if there's any chance Mullens could permanently start once Garoppolo is healthy, according to The Athletic's David Lombardi.

Garoppolo threw four touchdown passes and zero interceptions this season before suffering a high ankle sprain against the New York Jets in Week 2.

He owns a 20-6 career record since being acquired by the 49ers in 2017. San Francisco won the division and made a Super Bowl appearance last season with Garoppolo under center.

Mullens has made nine career starts for the 49ers, carrying a 4-5 record. He's tossed 14 touchdowns to 11 interceptions over his career.

The 49ers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.
