grub rescue does not work after installing peppermint on netbook

I have a old netbook Asus EEEPc and try to install peppermint (32-bit) but unfortunately it stops at grub command when I start up. I tried to restore the grub but after the command: linux / boot vnm lin...etc. I get the message: kernel does not support 64-bit CPUs. I can only start the system with the live usb in the netbook. Anyone any suggestions how to pusue this? Thx in advance.
