The Calgary Flames signed goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a six-year, $36-million contract, the team announced Friday.

Markstrom is now signed through the 2025-26 campaign and is the ninth-highest annually paid puck-stopper in the league. His contract carries a no-movement clause, which protects him from being exposed in the Seattle expansion draft, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.

The 30-year-old Swede is coming off a career season with the Vancouver Canucks in which he finished fourth in Vezina Trophy voting. He authored a .918 save percentage to go along with a goals saved above average of 11.40, which ranked 11th among all netminders.

Markstrom owns a career .911 save percentage and 2.80 goals-against average over 272 NHL appearances.

Calgary also has goaltender David Rittich under contract for one more season. Former Flames netminder Cam Talbot signed a three-year deal with the Minnesota Wild earlier Friday.
