The New York Jets will face the Arizona Cardinals as scheduled Sunday after COVID-19 tests from all players and staff returned negative, the team announced in a statement.

The Jets incurred a virus scare Friday morning after learning one player had a presumptive positive test. Along with the rest of the club, the player was retested. The Jets sent their team home and worked virtually while awaiting the latest round of results.

"This evening, we received negative PCR COVID-19 test results for all players, coaches, and personnel," the Jets said. "Following a presumptive positive COVID-19 test and out of an abundance of caution to ensure everyone's health and safety, we sent all players and personnel home this morning.

"We also initiated all NFL-mandated protocols including player isolation, subsequent testing, and contact tracing. As we have thus far, we will continue to follow (the) required health and safety protocols in the best interests of our coaches, players, staff, and community. We look forward to our game this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals."

The Cardinals departed for New York late Friday afternoon before the status of the game was settled.

The NFL has had to combat a number of virus-related situations within the last two weeks. In Week 4, the league had to delay the New England Patriots-Kansas City Chiefs game, while the Tennessee Titans had their contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers postponed to Week 7 due to a larger outbreak. The Patriots also had their Week 5 matchup with the Denver Broncos pushed back one day following more positive tests.
