Bengals' Ross seeking trade amid lack of playing time
Former first-round wide receiver John Ross approached the Cincinnati Bengals about a trade over a lack of playing time, his agent confirmed to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Ross received just one snap against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6, and was inactive for the previous three games.
Ross was the ninth overall pick in 2017. He wowed scouts at the NFL combine that year, running the 40-yard dash in a record 4.22 seconds.
While his speed hasn't translated into major production in the pros, Ross did have his most productive campaign in 2019, collecting 28 grabs for 506 yards and three touchdowns. The 24-year-old is scheduled to hit free agency at the end of the year.
Ross joins defensive linemen Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins on the list of Bengals veterans reportedly upset over their diminished roles this season. Longtime wide receiver A.J. Green recently denied speculation he would also welcome a move out of Cincinnati.
The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 3.
