It appears Michael Thomas has one more hurdle to overcome before returning to the field.

Making his way back from a high ankle sprain that cost him time earlier in the season, the New Orleans Saints wide receiver tweaked his hamstring during Wednesday's practice, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.

The Saints will monitor Thomas over the next two days to determine whether he can play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, Pelissero adds.

The star receiver was set to return from his ankle injury prior to New Orleans' bye, but he sat out Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers due to disciplinary reasons after reportedly getting into a confrontation with teammates and coaches.

Saints head coach Sean Payton said Wednesday that Thomas' discipline concluded and his ankle was "feeling better."

The 27-year-old suffered the injury in Week 1 and missed the last four games as a result.
