Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew suffered multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his right thumb and his status for next week's game against the Houston Texans is uncertain, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Minshew reportedly had discomfort in his thumb since Oct. 11, but Jacksonville - which is currently on its bye week - wasn't aware of the injury until this week after X-rays revealed the injury.

If the second-year quarterback is unable to play, either Mike Glennon or Jake Luton would get the start against the Texans.

The injury could explain Minshew's recent dramatic drop in accuracy. He had a 69.9 completion percentage through the first five games but only hit 54.9% of his passes in losses to the Detroit Lions and Los Angles Chargers.

The slump led to head coach Doug Marrone saying it's possible the young signal-caller could be benched in the future.

Minshew has thrown for 1,855 yards and 13 touchdowns against five interceptions this season.

The 1-6 Jaguars sit tied at the bottom of the AFC South with the Texans entering their bye. The club has lost six straight games.
