difficulty running VLC on Linux Mint 20
by Brant from LinuxQuestions.org on (#59SJP)
I was given a HP Pavillon dv6 laptop with 8G of RAM, running Windows 7, and I installed Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon 64 without difficulty.
I then installed VLC. Each time I open a DVD, it runs flawlessly -- but when I attempt to re-open the DVD, VLC refuses to open, whether I am trying to open the disk icon on the desktop, or whether I try to open VLC from the menu -- it makes no difference. The disk drive runs Celluloid or Rythmbox with difficulties.
Is this a common problem? I already have VLC installed on a HP tower running the same OS, and have had no difficulties there.
The advantage of VLC is that when I open a TV series on DVD with VLC, it opens to a screen showing the episode list, where Celluloid or SMPlayer simply start the first episode, and I have found no way to even see an episode list with them, which is an irritation!
Thanks!
