Brantford police are warning the community after a needle and a razor blade were found in Halloween candies handed out during trick-or-treating.

On Saturday a citizen reported a needle found inserted in a piece of candy collected in the Brier Park area of Brantford, police said.

On Sunday another citizen reported a razor blade found in a chocolate bar that had been collected in the Eagle Place community.

The police service said it wants the community to be aware of these incidents and is reminding caregivers to thoroughly check Halloween candy collected from trick-or-treating. Any candy that is open or appears suspicious should be thrown out.

Police continue to investigate these incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050.
