The San Francisco 49ers can't seem to shake the injury bug.

George Kittle will miss eight weeks after suffering a small fracture in his foot, while Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be sidelined at least six weeks with a high ankle sprain, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Garoppolo was removed late in Sunday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks with the injury. San Francisco believes he requires time to rest an ailment that's bothered him since Week 2, Schefter adds.

Garoppolo missed two games after initially hurting his ankle against the New York Jets. He briefly returned in Week 5 but exited again due to the injury.

Kittle's absence will also be a significant blow to Kyle Shanahan's offense. The tight end sat out two contests earlier this season after injuring his knee in Week 1.

Initial X-rays didn't reveal a fracture for the two-time All-Pro selection, but he now could be forced to miss the remainder of the 2020 campaign.

Nick Mullens replaced Garoppolo against Seattle and could start Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers. Ross Dwelley and rookie Charlie Woerner are Kittle's backups at tight end, though veteran Jordan Reed could return from injured reserve within the next two weeks.
