[SOLVED] Older laptop - MX Linux installed and works
by silverbirch from LinuxQuestions.org on (#59YCM)
n. I did once have Debian installed on a very old computer, about 12 years ago, so knew how stable it was, although the install was more difficult than average.
Long story short, I decided to give MW a try on the laptop, and while the install took a bit longer, it runs beautifully! I had tried Vectorlinux Light, a distro I used to favour as it was so fast, but there were issues .... with rebooting as I recall.
Anyway - currently best pleased, and I guess wanting to point out, that the sometimes obvious suggested modern light weight distros don't always do what is hoped. I did try quite a few, and each had issues, whereas this MW seems rock solid, and is reasonably fast given the age of the laptop.
Oops sorry, I seem to have lost half of original post!
