Harbaugh: Ravens' COVID-19 absences are 'opportunity to create versatility'

The Baltimore Ravens will practice this week with eight players missing on defense due to cornerback Marlon Humphrey's positive COVID-19 test.

Head coach John Harbaugh doesn't view the lack of available bodies as a negative as his team prepares for Sunday's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

You look at it as an opportunity to create versatility within your defense," said Harbaugh, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Seven of the Baltimore players on the reserve/COVID-19 list could return as soon as Saturday: linebackers Matthew Judon, Patrick Queen, Tyus Bowser, Malik Harrison, and LJ Fort, and defensive backs DeShon Elliott and Terrell Bonds.

Humphrey is ruled out for Sunday's contest. The Ravens haven't recorded any additional positive cases since their All-Pro cornerback announced his test result.

Harbaugh didn't want to speculate when asked how missing practice will impact his team.

"Well, I think we'll find that out. It's impossible to predict that," he said. "I don't spend a lot of time being anxious about that because it's really a waste of time."

According to Harbaugh, there's been no discussion of postponing the game if more positive cases arise.
