Report: Giants claim Dante Pettis off waivers
The New York Giants claimed wide receiver Dante Pettis off waivers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Pettis was waived by the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday after they failed to trade him at the deadline.
The 2018 second-round pick amassed 467 receiving yards and five touchdowns as a rookie but hasn't replicated that production recently. After being held to 109 yards in 2019, the Washington product has yet to record a catch through five appearances this season.
The 25-year-old's workload decreased this year due to the 49ers' offseason additions, which included first-round receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
Pettis will join a Giants receiving corps that already features Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate, and Evan Engram.
Tate was absent from Wednesday's practice for undisclosed reasons. Head coach Joe Judge refused to say whether the wideout's absence was related to his comments made during Monday Night Football.
