openvpn-2.5 breaks my vpn!
by pchristy from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5A0HX)
Whilst upgrading to the new Plasma 5 edition of -current, I also did all the upgrades I had postponed until I knew it was (reasonably!) safe to do so. One of these was upgrading openvpn to 2.5.
Unfortunately, this has broken my vpn connection! It seems that the BF-CBC cipher is no longer allowed by openvpn-2.5. This is unfortunate because that is what my provider uses...!
I found a sample slackware.conf file, which appears to enable BF-CBC, but copying this into the /etc/openvpn directory didn't help.
In the end I compiled openvpn-2.4.9 from source, and normal service is now restored.
I am using NetworkManager to configure my networks.
Any comments / advice from networking experts welcomed!
