A Canadian science fiction film that is now routinely cracking into Netflix's top 10-most-watched-movies list in several countries was written by a Hamilton man.

Chris Pare, born and raised in this city and a graduate of St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic Secondary School here, is credited with the screenplay for Code 8," a 2019 feature-length action flick, directed by Jeff Chan and starring Robbie and Steve Amell.

The movie, recounting the challenges and adventures of a class of marginalized individuals, known as the Powers, who have superhuman abilities, was shot mostly in Toronto and had to be financed partly through crowdfunding before it became on online hit.

It is carried in Canada by Crave.
