Stafford clears concussion protocol after late exit vs. Vikings

The Detroit Lions removed Matthew Stafford from Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings after the quarterback took a hit in the fourth quarter.

Stafford was evaluated for a concussion but said after the game he cleared the protocol, according to Lions senior writer Tim Twentyman.

Chase Daniel entered the game in his place and threw for 94 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

The veteran passer was injured when a sack from two Vikings defenders caused him to hit his head on the ground at the end of the play.

Stafford completed 23-of-32 passes for 211 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions before he left the contest.

The 32-year-old was unable to practice all week due to being in close contact with someone who had COVID-19. The team removed him from the reserve list on Saturday.
