Nine more cases of COVID-19 reported at Hamilton schools
Eight students and one teacher have tested positive for COVID-19 in Hamilton schools.
Eastdale Elementary, Shannen Koostachin Elementary, Lake Avenue Elementary and Ecole elementaire Pavillon de la jeunesse all reported a positive case on Sunday.
The infected educator works at Franklin Road Elementary School.
Two students tested positive at Immaculate Conception and were last in school on Friday.
The school will continue to follow guidance from public health officials around infection prevention and control. As part of its COVID-19 action plan, the HWCDSB will undertake a deep cleaning and disinfection of all areas at the school occupied by the symptomatic individual and will ensure all preventive measures are in place," the school wrote to families.
The cases are not connected and pose a low risk to the community, the school said.
All schools told families that administrators have notified any impacted families and staff members and are asking contacts to self-isolate.
There are 31 total cases of COVID-19 connected to Hamilton schools and child-care centres, according to provincial numbers.
Two Mohawk College students taking classes at the Institute of Applied Health Sciences facility on McMaster's campus also tested positive.
The students were on campus on Nov. 2.
Public health officials say the cases aren't connected.
