The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday that an unnamed player has tested positive for COVID-19.

The player in question immediately entered self-quarantine, and the team remains in the NFL's intensive protocol, according to the club's release.

Pittsburgh placed tight end Vance McDonald on the reserve/COVID-19 list later Monday, according to The MMQB's Albert Breer. The 30-year-old played 24 snaps for the Steelers in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys, catching one pass for 2 yards.

McDonald did not practice last Friday due to what was listed on the league-mandated injury report as an "illness," according to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

This is the first time this season the Steelers have reported a player testing positive. The team was already in the NFL's intensive protocol after a staff member tested positive last weekend.

McDonald has tallied nine receptions for 61 yards this season.

The Steelers are scheduled to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10.
