Corrupt Master Boot Record dual booting windows
by happyllama25 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5A6T2)
Hello,
I recently tried installing windows onto my Lubuntu 18.04 system, long story short, something went wrong and windows could not install on the partition i selected, when removing the installation usb and trying to boot into my linux system again, i get the following error:
error: no such partition.
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue> _
Following online tutorials to use the ls command return Filesystem is unknown and no solutions help, i have been wanting to wipe the system and start from fresh, but i have a few gigabytes of data i would like to pull from the drive onto a usb if possible, its only like 1 gb worth of files, and i know the general command line directory (if thats important), i have been trying to find a bootable iso that i can use to recover disk data but to no avail, any help would be appreciated
P.S. im not a very technical linux user, so please dumbify things down for me (if you can)
