6 things to know about the new Niagara Falls Costco
The St. Catharines Costco is moving to Niagara Falls at 7500 Pin Oak Drive, the former Niagara Square shopping centre. It appears the owners aren't superstitious as the new location opens to the public at 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13.
Here's what you need to know about the big move:
The new 13,500-square-meter store has more parking, a new hearing aid centre and a larger product selection than the St. Catharines location.
It will create 40 new local jobs.
The gas pumps, which were not a feature at the St. Catharines location, opened Oct. 26, selling gas at 90 cents a litre.
The St. Catharines location will close at the end day Nov. 12. It will re-open after renovations to instead operate as a business centre focusing on serving small businesses. Similar centres are located in Saint-Hubert, Que., and Scarborough. There is no timeline yet on when the business centre will open.
Construction was shut down for six weeks starting in April to prevent the spread of COVID-19, resuming in May.
Niagara Falls was the company's first choice. Then called Price Club, they were refused a request to open in the Cataract City in the early '90s, opting to open its St. Catharines location next to the Fairview Mall in 1993 instead.
