Report: Panthers preparing for McCaffrey to miss multiple weeks
The Carolina Panthers are preparing for star running back Christian McCaffrey to miss multiple weeks due to a shoulder injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McCaffrey is unlikely to play against the Detroit Lions in Week 11 as a result, Schefter adds.
McCaffrey missed Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after suffering the ailment in Week 9.
The 24-year-old has played in just three contests this year due to shoulder and ankle issues.
McCaffrey is averaging 3.8 yards per carry this season after leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage (2,392) and total touchdowns (19) last year.
Mike Davis has been Carolina's bell-cow back in McCaffrey's absence. Davis has accumulated 675 yards from scrimmage along with four touchdowns this season.
The Panthers are also dealing with an injury to their starting quarterback, as Teddy Bridgewater reportedly suffered an MCL sprain Sunday.
