Flacco to start vs. Chargers, Darnold ruled out
New York Jets head coach Adam Gase announced quarterback Joe Flacco will make his fourth start of the season Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
Starting passer Sam Darnold has been ruled out of the contest as he continues to work his way back from a shoulder injury.
The Jets' cautious approach to Darnold's recovery is one that the signal-caller agrees with as he considers his longevity and the possibility of aggravating his injury.
"Gotta weigh all the factors," Darnold said, according to Cimini.
In Darnold's absence, the 35-year-old Flacco has thrown for 659 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Jets are looking for their first win of the season after starting 0-9 prior to their bye last week.
