Patrick Mahomes has an extra motivation ahead of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders: He wants to avoid the first divisional sweep of his career.

"Any time you lose to anyone, the next time you play them you want to win the football game," the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback said Wednesday, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN. "We'll be ready to go, I promise you that. ... We don't like losing to teams twice, so we'll have the right mindset."

Mahomes has lost to an opponent multiple times in the same season just once, against the New England Patriots in 2018. The Patriots won the teams' regular-season matchup before eliminating Kansas City in the AFC Championship Game.

The Raiders handed the Chiefs a 40-32 loss in Week 5, Kansas City's only defeat this season. Mahomes threw his only interception of the year during that contest while completing a single-game career-low 51.2% of his pass attempts.

"If you're not ready to go in this game, playing a divisional opponent, playing against a good football team, and you know it's going to mean a lot going toward the AFC West standings, then you're not in the right sport," Mahomes added.

Mahomes has completed 66.9% of his passes this season while throwing for 2,687 yards and 25 touchdowns. He owns a career 14-2 record against AFC West teams.

Coming off a bye, Kansas City will face a Raiders club currently on a three-game winning streak.
