Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater appears unlikely to start Sunday against the Detroit Lions, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero report.

Bridgewater, who sprained his MCL in the Panthers' 46-23 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10, has been limited in practice over the past two days.

Head coach Matt Rhule is not ruling out his starting passer this week, insisting Bridgewater is preparing "as if he can play," according to David Newton of ESPN.

Rhule is willing to wait until the weekend to make a final decision on Bridgewater's status but said backup signal-callers PJ Walker and Will Grier "are doing a good job."

Walker and Grier have been splitting reps in practice this week, Pelissero adds.

Bridgewater started all 10 contests for Carolina this season. The 28-year-old has racked up 2,552 yards and 13 touchdowns to seven interceptions and has completed 72% of his passes.
