Turkey's out – this Thanksgiving, we're having side dishes for dinner

Like many people, I'm planning a reduced celebration. I could despair, but I've decided to innovate - bring on Sidesgiving!

Few people know this, but the perfect meal was discovered in New York in 2005.

It was a frigid night on the Upper West Side and a special occasion. I was turning 13, which meant I got to choose the restaurant. I selected an upscale bistro in our neighborhood with a pleasing tile backsplash and real candle sconces. The mandate from our parents had been sweeping - order whatever you want.
