If you are experiencing very slow (down to 2MB/S in some cases) write speed but OK read speed - this is probably your issue.
Personally - I'm furious and will never buy WD again.
I can also confirm based on an ongoing low level format that this slowing
effect (I'm using HDD Low Level Formatting Tool 4.40 home license) also
occurs on sequential as well as random writes - I'm 32% through my 5TB drive
and it wrote at 119MB/s for 200GB then fell off a cliff to 51MB/s then immediately began a crawl down to 34 MB/s
At about the 29% mark it suddenly started to speed up again and at 32% now
has reached 38.4MB/s and still slowly climbing.
This is appaling.
Does it even conform to required specs for calling it a USB 3.0 device?
My opinion is this is plain fraud and possibly criminal fraud.
If it isn't I think it should be made so.
Seriosuly fuming... fume fume fume.....
...now at 33% and 39.1MB/s
