A worker at a Hamilton Mountain Food Basics has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the store's parent company.

Metro was notified on Nov. 27 that an employee at the Food Basics located at 505 Rymal Rd. E. had tested positive for the virus, according to a listing on their COVID-19 case tracker.

The worker's last day at the grocery store was Nov. 27 - the same day the company was notified of their positive test result. The Spectator has reached out to Metro for more details.

When a case is reported at a store, the location is sanitized and given a deep clean," according to Metro's website.

It's unclear how many staff members were affected by the case or if any were recommended to self-isolate as a precaution. The database also does not specify which part of the store the employee worked in.

If required, the company will also communicate with customers who have shopped in the impacted location to manage the situation."

We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety, and the safety of our customers as well," Metro stated on its website.

Two workers at the FreshCo grocery store at 601 Upper Gage Ave. have also tested positive for COVID-19, according to Sobeys.

The company was notified of both results on Nov. 30, according to its online case tracker.

The last day the first employee worked was Nov. 22 and the second worker's last day was Nov. 26, stated Sobeys.
