Hamilton police have charged a 31-year-old Montreal man with human trafficking after being called to a local motel over concern about a woman in distress.

Police were called to the motel - only identified as being on the Hamilton/Burlington border - on Sept. 13.

Police found the woman who told officers she had been forced into prostitution, police said.

This began a more than month-long investigation by the human trafficking unit.

On Nov. 17 Peter McShane, 31, from Montreal was arrested. He is charged with trafficking in persons, receive material benefits, advertise sexual services and forcible confinement.

On Tuesday police released McShane's photo because detectives believe there may be more victims and witnesses who have not come forward.

Anyone with information, or who is a victim of human trafficking, can call Det. Const. Kudo Park of the human trafficking unit at 905-540-6379.

To remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppershamilton.com.
