Man charged with first-degree murder in shooting death in Six Nations

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they have arrested a Six Nations man in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man who was shot on the driveway of a Cayuga Road home on Monday evening.

The victim, identified by OPP as Andrew Davis of Six Nations, was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Region OPP say they are assisting Six Nations Police (SNP) in the investigation.

Police say 24-year-old Andrew Brent Smoke was charged with first-degree murder on Dec. 3. The Six Nations man was expected to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on Dec. 4.

In a release on Tuesday, police said the victim and the accused were known to each other.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating a second suspect in connection with the homicide.

In a Dec. 4 release, OPP say SNP has an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Eric Jerome Smoke. The suspect is described as an Indigenous man, five-foot-eleven and 148 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and gold teeth. Police say the suspect has a tattoo - a Smoke" banner around a skull and rose - on his left arm.

Police say the suspect is believed to be heading toward Hamilton area. His current whereabouts is unknown. Police are warning the public not to approach the suspect, as he is considered to be possibly armed and dangerous."

Police are asking anyone who sees the suspect to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Those with information may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000, police say.
