confuse me.
Normally after selecting one's keyboard on a live session started install of either linux mint or ubuntu mate (I rather used the latter nowadays, much less trouble with kernel updates). It didn't go to to the usual "ways of installing linux" dialog box, where I would normally select the manual way, as I install linux OS on a partition, which is the first of the disk, but I normally selected the partition I wanted to format and then use to install grub on. But right now i'm told "omg you have X amount of mounted partitions, do you want the installer to unmount them (uhm, no, the partition I want to install on has to be seen. But then again, it's been a while, but I remember the partition has to be unmounted for the install process anyways.
I'm just scared of moving ahead with those new dialog boxes when the one on 18.04.5 (which I should have installed instead of spending a whole year live session using of a 256gb stick session, or almost a year, when win7 got its last update, I was done with dual booting, no reason to install a new microsoft OS again, and I've had to buy some additional local space, as I couldn't just format away all the data that was on the win7 partition.
Now that's taken care of....I see that the 20.04 usb stick installer has a "install" option and others, so there's a direct installation method now? I guess it is safer? I can just do like I always did with non-live OS installs, point at the partition I want to install to, format it beforehand, whatever, I already have a swap space partition on the disk I never removed from a much older install so that's taken care of already.
Gimme that kick in the butt to leave that restrained space live sessions puts me in, I've been using my main desktop like if I was a 70 year old when it's a gaming desktop heh.
Any reassuring links would be enough, right now, I also have the displeasure of having to wait for my contact lens to show up at the optometrist, so I don't spend much more than 10 minutes on a screen this close to my face.
Stay safe.
