Marcus Maye struggled to make sense of the New York Jets' strategy Sunday after an all-out blitz at the end of the game backfired and cost them a win against the Las Vegas Raiders.

"It's gotta be a better call," the safety told reporters, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

With a four-point lead in the final seconds, the Jets sent the house at Derek Carr in an attempt to force the ball out of his hands before a receiver could get to the end zone.

Carr managed to slide up in the pocket and avoid the rush, giving him time to uncork a 46-yard dart to Henry Ruggs, who got behind rookie corner Lamar Jackson.

"We have to execute, but you have to help us out at the same time," Maye said, via The Athletic's Connor Hughes.

The Jets became the first team in the NFL this season to send eight or more pass-rushers at a quarterback in the last 30 seconds of a game. They also remain the only winless club in the league.

"I couldn't believe they all-out blitzed us," Carr said, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.

Jackson said it was "tough" being asked to handle the speedy Ruggs one-on-one without safety help over the top, according to Hughes.

Jets quarterback Sam Darnold took a more diplomatic approach.

"It is what it is," he said after the game, per Cimini.
