Report: Head coaching change not imminent for Chargers

No change at head coach is imminent for the Los Angeles Chargers after Sunday's franchise-record 45-0 loss to the New England Patriots, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Chargers organization has a "tremendous amount of respect" for head coach Anthony Lynn and would rather evaluate his performance at the end of the season, according to Rapoport.

The blowout, which dropped L.A. to 3-9, was the biggest shutout defeat in franchise history, topping the previous record of 41-0 in losses to the Boston Patriots (1961) and Atlanta Falcons (1973).

The 51-year-old Lynn described it as "the worst football game" he'd ever been a part of as a coach or a player, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. "It's not acceptable," he added postgame Sunday.

Lynn also said, "I expect to be the coach of this team tomorrow."

The team hired Lynn ahead of the 2017 season. He went 9-7 in his first campaign and 12-4 in 2018. However, the Chargers have struggled to find success of late, finishing 5-11 last season, and they're unlikely to make the playoffs this year.

The Chargers will attempt to bounce back Sunday when they host the Atlanta Falcons.
