The Pittsburgh Steelers activated running back James Conner from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, setting him up to return for Sunday's AFC showdown with the Buffalo Bills, the team announced.

Conner missed Pittsburgh's Week 12 win over the Baltimore Ravens and the team's Week 13 loss to the Washington Football Team after reportedly testing positive for the coronavirus.

Benny Snell replaced Conner, who was declared cancer-free in 2016 after being diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma in 2015, in both games.

Snell rushed for 60 yards against the Ravens but only managed five yards on eight attempts against Washington, which handed Pittsburgh its first loss of the season.

Despite their success this year, the Steelers have struggled to consistently produce on the ground. The AFC North leaders rank 29th in the league with 92.6 rushing yards per game.

Conner has racked up 645 yards and five touchdowns on 145 carries this season.
