Flores: 'I wish we could have 14 defenders' vs. Chiefs

One of Week 14's marquee matchups pits the Kansas City Chiefs' first-ranked offense against the Miami Dolphins' No. 2 scoring defense.

The Dolphins have allowed just 17.7 points per game this season - trailing only the Pittsburgh Steelers' 17.6 points allowed per game - but have yet to face an offense as dangerous as the Chiefs'.

Kansas City is churning out 427.6 yards per game and ranks second in the league with an average of 30.8 points scored.

"I remember it was hard to stop them. It's still hard - it's probably harder now," Dolphins head coach Brian Flores - who's a former New England Patriots defensive coordinator - said, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com.

Flores understands the challenges in defending the likes of Patrick Mahomes and top receiving weapons Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but it doesn't end there.

"Who do you want to put on (Sammy) Watkins? Who do you want to put on Mecole Hardman? Who do you want to put on (Demarcus) Robinson? We've got to handle the backs, too. (Clyde Edwards-Helaire's) a good back. Le'Veon Bell's not a slouch, either," Flores said.

"I wish we could have 14 defenders," he added. "That'd be nice."

The 11-1 Chiefs have already clinched a playoff spot and are tracking the Pittsburgh Steelers for the top seed in the AFC. The 8-4 Miami Dolphins currently sit in a wild-card spot and just one game behind the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East lead.
