Report: Panthers set to fine players for breaking COVID-19 protocols
The Carolina Panthers are expected to hand out fines of at least $10,000 to players who violated COVID-19 protocols during the team's bye week, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Wide receivers D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Ishmael Hyman, defensive tackles Derrick Brown and Zach Kerr, linebacker Shaq Thompson, offensive tackle Greg Little, and punter Michael Palardy were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday.
A number of those eight players met outside of the team facility. Players are prohibited from meeting or practicing outside team headquarters under protocols created by the NFL and NFL Players Association.
The Panthers could also potentially be the latest team to face discipline from the league for violating COVID-19 protocols.
The Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints were both fined $500,000 and lost sixth- and seventh-round draft picks, respectively, for breaking protocols. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots were hit with $350,000 fines for their violations.
Carolina sits at the bottom of the NFC South with a 4-8 record and is set to play the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
